Rob Jones – Managing Director
Rob is the founder and MD of Jones Technology Ltd, with over 25 years of experience in the IT industry — all of it spent within Managed Service Providers. He’s played a key role in helping MSPs scale and evolve, delivering enterprise-grade technology and support across sectors including retail, manufacturing, healthcare, education, and legal.
Rob’s strength lies in turning complex challenges into clear, workable solutions. From national SD-WAN deployments to hospital network upgrades and multi-site rollouts, he’s led high-impact projects that deliver real-world value. Jones Technology Ltd is the result of all that experience — built with a clear focus on service quality, trusted relationships, and technical excellence.
Rob’s all about building long-term partnerships with clients and delivering tech that just works — backed by solid engineering, good communication, and a no-nonsense approach.
It’s also very much a family business. Rob is married to Emma, who’s recently joined the company, and together they manage life with five kids, two Rottweilers (Storm and Shadow), and whatever adventure comes next. When there’s time to escape, Rob’s usually out on his mountain bike or somewhere in the hills.
Oliver Rickers – Senior Technical Consultant
Oliver brings over 9 years of experience in the IT world, having started out “on the tools” as a field engineer working with copper and fibre before moving into video conferencing and, eventually, full-on network MSP life. At Jones Technology Ltd, he wears a lot of hats — from client support and consultancy to change management, monitoring, and keeping our internal systems sharp.
He’s especially at home in networking and systems deployment, and thrives on the variety that comes with supporting clients and delivering projects. One of his standout moments? Leading the onboarding of 27 existing client sites into a new FortiManager environment and designing a scalable deployment process that’s now rolled out to 90+ locations — all while creating the playbook for internal teams and 3rd parties alike. He’s also played a big part in setting up the operational tools we use day-to-day, like HaloPSA.
Relationship-driven and solutions-focused, Oliver is a key part of what makes our support and consultancy so strong.
Outside of work, he’s a family man through and through. Most weekends involve day trips, walks, or chasing after his two-year-old daughter Matilda — a certified force of nature. When there’s a moment to breathe, you’ll find him geeking out over horology or picking up the guitar.
Dan Roberts – Senior Network Engineer
With 25 years in the industry, Dan brings a huge amount of technical experience and a proper love for all things networking. From advanced network design to day-to-day support, he plays a key role in managing and securing our clients’ infrastructure, always tailoring solutions to suit their needs.
Dan specialises in Fortinet (his go-to tech stack), but he’s just as comfortable working across HP, Cisco, Microsoft, and more. He’s particularly fond of routing protocols, and thrives on solving complex technical problems. Recent projects include a multi-region Azure/Fortigate BGP setup and rollout, a full Fortinet ZTNA deployment, and a VXLAN redundancy solution design and rollout.
Whatever the challenge, Dan brings a calm, methodical approach and a serious dedication to doing things right — he’s one of those engineers who lives for finding the fix.
Outside of tech, Dan swaps network cables for electric fences. He lives on a smallholding full of sheep, goats, geese, chickens… and one very smelly dog. He loves mountain biking, but his true (and slightly chaotic) passion is farming — or at least pretending to be a farmer while fixing the machinery more than using it.
